Herman A. Baker
March 29, 1928 - January 29, 2014
Herman A. Baker was born March 29, 1928, in Yale, OK, to parents, Claud Baker and Vera Baker- Rose- Gray.
Herman was married to his wife for 34 years when Darlene passed in 1994. Herman was a long time resident. Worked for many years in the oilfield in San Juan County. Companies including Beasley Hot Shot, Drake Well Services, as well as Dawn Trucking, from where he retired. He enjoyed spending time in Kingman, AZ, with family and friends, hunting, fishing and camping.
At the age of 85, he joined the love of his life, his wife, Darlene. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerold and Roscoe Baker; sister, Bonnie Lowe Williams; Darlene's parents, Ival and Georgia Daniels; brother-in-law, Lee Daniels; and life time friends, Dave Uhl, Gene Plank and Ed Covington.
He is survived by his brother, Edward Leroy Baker of Alaska; sister-in-law's Kathe Baker of Kingman, AZ, Betty Baker of Alaska; brother-in-law, JD Daniels (Yula) of Kingman,AZ; son, Chester Baker of Farmington; daughter Sheila McLaughlin (Mike Merlott) of Aztec; seven grandchildren, Erica Baker of Denver, Co, Megan Baker of Farmington, Brandon (Montadelle Hood), Jennifer, Bryanna and Zack McLaughlin all of Aztec and Quinsea Yardman of Bloomfield; four great-grandchildren, Taquira, Hannah, Gage and Brendan.
A celebration of life will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at the VFW Post 614, 201 S. Park Avenue in Aztec.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. main Street, in Farmington with a private family service. The family asked that no flowers be sent, instead donations may be made to any foundation of choice to find a cure for Parkinson's disease and cancer research.
