Henry Montano passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 3, 2013, He was 81. Mr. Montano was born in San Mateo, New Mexico on March 30, 1931 to Apolanario Montano and Candida Martinez Montano.

Mr. Montano was a life resident of the Gallup area. He was previously employed with RandR Construction, Rocco Construction, Davidson Chemicals; He eventually retired in 1993 from McKinley County. Mr. Montano was an avid Archer, being a life member of the Gallup Bowman's Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his Friday night card game, but he will best be remembered as a loving and devoted Husband, Dad, and Grandpa.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years; Elaine Montano of the family home in Gallup. His three children; Michael Montano and his wife Betty of Gallup, Evelyn Sotelo and her husband George of Odessa, Texas, and Angela Mendoza also of Gallup. Five grandchildren; Andrew, Marissa, Nicole, Raul, and Dominic. Eight Great-Grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way, along with numerous other family and friends that also survive him.

He was preceded in death by; His parents; Apolanario and Candida Montano. Two sisters; Lydia Montano, and Deluvina Estrada. Two brothers; Rudy Montano and Manuel Montano.

On Thursday March 7, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church a Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, then at 7:00 pm a Rosary Vigil will be led by Frank Trujillo. On Friday March 8, 2013 at 10:00 am also at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Jerry Mesley. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include: Bob Martinez, Kerry Fuhs, Chewy Morales, Raul Lopez, Adam Piestewa, Salomon Rael, Gary Longan, and Fred Jonas.

Honorary Pallbearers include: John Montjoy, Charles Byrd, Jason Daya, Jake Gomez, Charlie Arnold, Luis Reyna and the Gallup Bowman's Association.

Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup has been entrusted with arrangements.
