Helen Louise Clark

Helen Louise Clark, 96, of Aztec, passed away on Monday, March 3,2014,in Farmington. She was born
Aug. 30, 1917, in Flora Vista, to Pauline and John Kirkland.
Helen spent her early life in northwestern New Mexico, where she lived on a ranch at the mouth of Hargus Canyon and then homesteaded wit her family in Largo Canyon. Her family then moved to Trinidad, Colo., where she lived until she graduated from high school. Helen then moved with her family to a ranch near the Spanish Peaks near La Veta, Colo., where she learned to run cattle, farm, fish and trap.
Helen met her husband, Reino N. Clark in Rochester, Minn., shortly after World War II. Together they moved back to the Four Corners area and settled in Durango, Colo, where they raised two sons. She moved back to Aztec in 1985. She loved her sons, fishing, hunting for Indian ruins, tennis and bowling, in that order.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Reino N. Clark; brother, John Kirkland; and her sister, Ruth Swift.
She is survived by her sons, Reino F. Clark and Nick K. Clark; and two grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
Helen requested that there will be no service.
