Helen D. Benally, 85, of Aztec, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Farmington. She was born February 6,1927 in Burnham to Leroy Sr. and Mabel Dennison. She was born to Nooda'i Dine'e and born for Bit'aahnii (Leaf Clan).
Helen was a very loving mother, sister, auntie and grandmother. She was a renowned rug weaver and a very strong Matriarch for her family. She served the Lord to her last day.
She retired from the BIA.
Helen had many friends everywhere.
Helen was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Arthur; daughter, Rita Arthur; parents and brothers, Leroy Dennison Jr. and Robert Dennison.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Larry) Aguilera, of Aztec; bother, James (Terry) of Sanora, California; sisters, Bernice (Huskie) Chatto, of Bloomfield and Harriet (Don) Begay, of Farmington; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and her life-long friend.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, at Alternative Choice Chapel in Farmington with Rev. Steve Carrington officiating.
A reception to follow.
Inurnment will take place at a later date.
