Harris Benally, 63, of Lower Fruitland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in Farmington. He was born Dec. 31, 1950, in Farmington, to Louise Benally.
Harris graduated from Intermountain Indian Boarding school in Brigham City, Utah, in 1969. Completed welding training in Denver, Colo. He was employed with BHP Billiton New Mexico Coal for 38 years. Harris enjoyed working with horses and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys on T.V.
Harris was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Eaton Benally and his grandparents, Hosteen Dish and Lilly Benally.
He is survived by his son, Daryl Eaton; his daughters, Nezbah Eaton and Dezbah Eaton; sisters, Betty Benally and Lorraine Cordova; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Ojo Amarillo United Methodist Church in Ojo Amarillo, with the Rev. Fred Yazzie officiating.
Burial will follow in the family cemetery in Fruitland.
The reception will be at the Upper Fruitland Chapter House after the burial.
