Gregory Kirk Nygren, son of Harry William Nygren Jr. and Natealeen Joy Nygren, husband of Lore Nygren, brother to Craig (Carleen), Nate, Steve (Barbara), Mark (Linda), Scott (Janna), Brent (Krista), Nannette (Daryl) and Anndrea (Scott), father of Gregory (Sarah), Jason (Shaunna), Justin (Brooke), Sara (John), Travis, Amalie and Hailie and adorning gramper to Jonah, Benjamin, Samuel, Lily, Lorea, Paloma, Sonora, Clark, Graham, Benson, Warren, Lincoln and Lottie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Layton, Utah. He was 70.
A lifelong New Mexican, Kirk spent most of his life in Farmington, New Mexico. He graduated from Farmington High in 1969. He was a local business owner, working alongside his parents and brothers in the oil field, restaurants, clothing stores, real estate and any project his mother dreamt up.
Kirk was known for his kind, generous disposition, witty sense of humor, always willing to side-step rules and regulations and making new friends everywhere he went. We're not sure he ever owned a vehicle with working blinkers. Always the life of the party, no one was kinder, more considerate or loving than Kirk. He was a collector of curiosities, mostly flash lights, screw drivers, calculators, pocket knives and watches. There was nothing he wanted more than to be surrounded by his adoring grandkids
Of all his endeavors, his devotion to church, his wife and children were the most important. Kirk was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a mission in the New York Hill Cumorah Mission from 1969-1971.
Kirk was born in Albuquerque on May 9, 1950. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sara Lorene Holladay Nygren and all of his children.
