Grace Jacqueline Bloomfield Herring passed away peacefully in Farmington on Monday, July 29, 2013 - six days shy of her 103rd birthday. Grace was born in Shiprock, New Mexico on August 4, 1910 to George and Lucy Bloomfield. She was raised in Toadlena with her seven brothers and sisters and many wonderful Navajo neighbors. It was there that she learned to crochet, sew, embroider, make prize-wining quilts and paint using the beautiful colors of the scenery around Toadlena - The Falls, Two Grey Hills and the desert. It was also there that she met her beloved husband, Charles Herring, and raised her two children, Derryl and Jill. Grace serviced faithfully in all of her church callings-especially loving the young women whose lives she blessed. Grace was predeceased by her husband Charles, and her son, Derryl. She leaves behind her daughter, Jill Lorah (Clifton); her daughter-in-law, Michele Herring (Derryl); 6 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
A closed-casket gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington.
Funeral services for Grace are Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Apache Building, 400 W. Apache in Farmington with Bishop Carroll Carter of the Farmington 7th Ward conducting. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Andre Herring, Pierre Herring, Clifton L. Lorah, Jr., Jerry R. Curtis, Larry McGee and Shane Blair.
Honorary pallbearers are Grace's granddaughters and grandsons.
