Gladys Lorraine Crow, 85, of Farmington, quietly passed away in her sleep at home on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Farmington. She was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Gilmore City, Iowa.She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Crow; her parents, Vona and Homer Gray and five siblings; brothers, Bob, Berl and Curtiss Wayne Gray and sisters, Emmajean Brinkley, Irene Ogletree and Faye Able. She was also preceded by grandson, Keith Elliott; granddaughter, Alayna Smith; and son-in-law, Stephen Smith.She is survived by five children; Nancy (Bill) Eaves, Jack Crow, Shirley (Pat) Maurer, Sandra (Jim) Strawn and Wanda Smith. She also had 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly; and numerous nieces and nephews.Gladys lived with her family in the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon before settling in Farmington with her husband and five children during the oil boom of the 1950s. She was employed by Gibsons and also was a rural route carrier for the post office between Farmington and Bloomfield; and Flora Vista and Farmington. She later worked at the new K-Mart when it opened up, where she retired after 20 years. She was an avid bingo and Yahtzee player when her health permitted it and known to many as Grandma Crow.A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, at the Kirtland Cemetery.Pallbearers are Bill Eaves II, Stephen Maurer, Radney Smith and Andy Head.Special thanks to Basin Hospice and Gladys' nieces, Debbie and Donna who helped our family with her care her last days.Gladys' care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E.
