Georgianna Childers

March 6, 1941 — September 3, 2013

Georgianna Alice Rodner Childers, 72, of Kirtland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, in Kirtland. She was born March 6, 1941, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to George and Anna Maria DeVito Rodner. Georgianna was known to most people as Georgia. She married Gary Childers on April 15, 1989, and together they traveled to many state's for Gary's job. She loved to travel and made new friends at each new location. Georgia was a lifelong member of the VFW and a local member of the Farmington Women's Republican Party. In her late teens, she was a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall. SHe was a kind and generous woman, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and faithful friend. Her laugh was loud and contagious. She was an avid reader, wonderful homemaker and a marvelous cook. She could be graceful one minute and goofy in the next and always the life of the party. She was an intelligent, charming and beautiful person. Georgia has left a void in our lives, but her memory will remain with us forever. Although she will be dearly missed, her spirit surrounds us. Georgia is survived by her husband, Gary Childers; sons, William Steven Madak, of Victorville, California, George William Madak, of Rockland, California, and Stephen Bernard Madak, of Bloomfield; daughter, Judith Dean, of Aztec; stepchildren, Gretchen Noble, of Surprise, Arizona, Alyson Sulit, of Mesa, Arizona and Shannon Childers, of Mesa, Arizona; sisters, Ellen (Nick) Federici, of Port Charlette, Florida, Alice (Jay) Peskin, of Tauares, Florida, Carmen (Chris) Gerrard, of LaVerne, California and Marcie (John) Russell, of Turlock, California; brother, Joseph Petti, of Azusa, California; loving cousins, Kenneth Krehn, of Buena Vista, Colorado, and Janet Okray, of Prescott, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepson, J.D. Childers. A service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at Alternative Choice Chapel in Farmington. Immediately following the service there will be a potluck at the Childer's home, 368 Road 6100 in Kirtland. Bring a lawn chair and your favorite dish, and help celebrate the life and promotion of Georgia.
