Genevieve Lopez, 82, of Aztec, went to be with our heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. She was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Largo, to Alfredo Maestas and Julia Tafoya Maestas.
Genevieve grew up in Largo and raised her children in Aztec. She was a very loving and kind mother and friend to all. She was very active in her church, Aztec Baptist Church and will be missed by all.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arsenio Lopez and Charlie Hancock; four brothers, Louis Maestas, Ralph Maestas, Leo Maestas and Chris Maestas; and two sisters, Georgia Lybrook and Rosie Cordova. She leaves behind her children, Carolyn (Gilbert) Gurule, Elizabeth (Jim) Roberts, Doreen (James) Davis, Frank (Maria) Hancock, Bill (Theresa) Hancock, Richard Lopez, Elizabeth (Rick) Martinez, Maryann Tafoya, Daniel (Cynthia) Lopez; and 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Bertha Leeson, Angie Garcia, Alvina Candelaria and Ramona Valdez.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27 at Bible Baptist Church, 205 Newman Ave. in Aztec. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Alan Hancock, Phillip Hancock, Adam Woodard, Davey Lopez, Ramon Hancock and Billy Shuss.
