Services for Genaro Howard Estrada, 85, will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Reverend Josh will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallup, NM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Estrada died July 9, 2016, in Gallup, New Mexico. He was born July 10, 1930, in Gallup, NM.

Estrada attended Cathedral Catholic School. He worked as barber and hairstylist and was owner/operator of the Deluxe Barber Shop for more than 50 years. Estrada served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, president of the local Barbers Union, and a motorcycle and classic car enthusiast. One of his greatest passions in life was collecting and restoring vintage and classic cars. He enjoyed showing his cars at car shows and won many trophies over the years. In his younger days he also had a love for all types of motorcycles, old, new, fast, slow and especially Harley Davidsons. He played the guitar and shared the joy of listening to traditional Mexican and New Mexican music especially classic Bolereos (classic love ballads) performed by Trios with his family and friends. Estrada enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons Raymond Estrada and Howie Estrada Jr., both of Gallup, and Floyd Sandoval, of Albuquerque; daughters Margaret Gina Estrada, of Gallup, Dianna Estrada, of Albuquerque, and Betty Neff, of Denver; brothers Julian Estrada, Anthony Estrada, Robert Estrada and Jimmy Estrada, all of Gallup; sisters Lena Lee, of Mancos, Colorado, Mary LaBlanc, of Covina, California, Lupe Ramirez, of Gallup, Suzie Dominguez, of Albuquerque, Tomasita Herrera, of Silver City, Esther Candelaria, of Gallup, and Antoinette Estrada, of Gallup; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Manuela Estrada, stepmother Catalina Estrada, five sisters, four brothers, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jason Sanchez Jr., Jonathan Sanchez, Emilio Resendiz, Tommy Castillo, Alex Cantu, Moses Griego and Jacob Rodriguez.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Knights of Columbus hall, 105 Apache Drive, Gallup, NM, after burial.

Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, NM is entrusted with arrangements.
