Gary Lynn Zufelt, 62, of Farmington passed away early Saturday, December 8, 2012 surrounded by his family. Gary was born May 23, 1950 in Cortez, Colorado the son of the late Leland Zufelt and Zelpha May (Brown) McCleve. Gary graduated from Farmington High School in 1968 ant attended San Juan College from 1968 - 1970. He was employed by Farmington Municipal Schools custodial maintenance supervisor for 32 years retiring in 1996. Gary also was employed by Presbyterian Medical Services as Maintenance/grounds for 15 years retiring in June 2012. He was member of the NRA and lifetime active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Farmington 5th Ward. Among Gary's hobbies were metal and woodworking, fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. Gary was loved by so many. He was a dedicated and loyal father. He was a father his children could look up to and respect. His children admired and loved him as much as he loved them. Gary was an affectionate, kind , and incredibly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man of action, not just words. Gary will be deeply missed. Gary was preceded in death by his father Leland Leon Zufelt his materal grandparents Rudolph and Retha Brown and his paternal grandparents Leland Leon and Etta Pearl Gladden Zufelt. Gary leaves behind his beloved wife Sandra Goodge Zufelt, his children, sons Devin Zufelt and wife Whitney of Broomfield, Colorado and Jarom Zufelt of Farmington; daughter Cari Krueger and husband Jon of Seattle, Washington; his mother Zelpha McCleve and husband Roy of Aztec; brothers Doyle Zufelt and wife, Laurie, of Flora Vista and Randy Zufelt, of T or C; sisters, Judy Rogers and husband, Johnny, of Farmington; Janine of Albuquerque and Jewel Davis and husband, Jay of Flora Vista; two grandchildren and one on the way and many dear friends.Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stake Center , 4400 College Blvd.
funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Bishop Mike Lacey conducting. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery , 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington .Pallbearers are James Albin, Ted Paulson, Bruce Buchanan, Ray Ladesma, LeGrand Jack, Tom Gifford, Craig Foutz, and Richard Pepin. Honorary pallbearers are all employees and staff who worked with Gary at Farmington Municipal Schools and Presbyterian Medical Services. Memorials may be sent in Gary's memory to P.M.S. Northwest New Mexico Hospice,608 Reilly Ave., Farmington, NM 87401. Gary 's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington , 505-325-8688.
