Gary Robert Thur

Gary Robert Thur, 76, of Farmington, NM passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Farmington, NM. He was born on February 26, 1945 in Clark County, WI to Ernest and Freda Thur. He was the youngest son of four. He began his training for the ministry at 16 and received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1967. He went on to St. Louis Seminary and received his Masters of Divinity in 1971.
He was ordained on June 13, 1971 with two older brothers (Melvin Thur and Richard Thur) officiating.
Gary served churches from Minnesota (Triple Parish in Frazee, MN) a parish in Clear Lake, MN he planted a church Crown of Life in Rochester, MI, served in Lamar, CO and Zion Lutheran Church in Farmington, NM until retirement in 2014.
Gary is preceded in death by, parents, Ernest and Freda Thur and brother, Melvin Thur.
Gary is survived by wife, Dianna Thur (m. May 31, 1969); sons, Kelly (Michelle) Thur, Barrett (Bonnie) Thur; daughter, Heidi Thur; brothers, David (Judy) Thur, Richard (Jane) Thur; sister in law, Mary Lou; grandchildren, Collyn Thur, Bryanna Thur and Brady Thur.
A Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, 7455 Foothills Dr., Farmington, NM 87402 with Reverend Gary Bickner  officiating.
