Gary Neil Muns

October 8, 1943 — February 15, 2015

Gary Neil Muns, 71, of Bloomfield passed away on February 15, 2015. He was born Oct. 8, 1943 in Everett, WA to Dale "Ted" and Garnet Muns. He attended schools in Iola, Kansas, later moving to New Mexico with his family in 1958. Gary graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1962, then attended NM State University until 1963. He was in the Army ROTC, later joining the Army and receiving early honorable discharge in 1965. Gary lived in Bloomfield for most of his life and attended Bloomfield Methodist Church. He worked for many years helping to manage the family farm in Bloomfield. After his father's death in 1988, Gary continued to care for his aging mother until her death in 2005. Gary enjoyed camping and hiking in his younger years. He loved animals, especially his beloved cats. He had interests in chess, history, old movies and the study of astrology.
Gary is survived by his brother George (Velma) Muns of Las Vegas, NV; sister Debby (Ron) Talcott of Durango, CO; nephew Randy Muns of Chico, TX; nieces Tracy Talcott of Aztec and Amber Denman of Reno, NV; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Muns; nephew Levi Muns; and great nephew Luke Muns.
Viewing will be from 4:00-4:30 pm on Thursday, Feb. 19th at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, Feb. 20th at Bloomfield Cemetery with Jerry Spangler officiating.
