Florencio "Floyd" S. Marquez

Florencio "Floyd" S. Marquez passed away on July 3, 2015, he was 83. Mr. Marquez was born on September 9, 1931 in San Mateo, New Mexico to Antonio Marquez and Josephita Sandoval Marquez.
Mr. Marquez served in the United States Army, in Company A 317 Engineer Combat Battalion, where he received an Army of Germany Occupation medal, at the onset of the Korean Conflict. He was very proud of his service, and was involved in DAV, and VFW organizations. He was the owner/ operator of Floyd's Barber Shop. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. He spent his free time, walking, camping, hunting, and playing poker. He loved to help people, and enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children; Toni Montano and her husband Johnny of Albuquerque, Clarence Marquez and his wife Beatrice of Los Lunas, Edward Marquez and his wife Sandra also of Los Lunas, and Melinda Salazar and her husband Arthur of Grants. 11 grandchildren; Sandra, Camille, Nadine, Addie, Adrian, Sheyanne, Anthony, Santana, Terry, Julian, and John-John. 18 great-grandchildren; Ray Jr., Aubrianna, Jacob, Antonio, Cindy, Martina, David, Jason, Dayjah, Mathias, Haven, Jonas, Thalia, Andrea, Anthony Jr., Elijah, Ethyn, and Dustin, and on great-great grandson; Marqus Florencio. His siblings; Roman Marquez and his wife Lila, Luga Marquez-Garcia, and Anna Mae Price-Valencia and her husband Augustine also survive him.
He was preceded in death his wife; Della Apodaca Marquez. His parents; Antonio and Josephita Marquez His step-father; Willie Price. His siblings; Horacio Marquez, Leandro Marquez, Thomas Marquez, and Fela Marquez-Granados.
On Tuesday July 7, 2015, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, at 10:30 a.m., a Rosary will be recited, then at 11:00 am a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Alberto Avella. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. VFW Post #3221 will provide military honors. A reception will follow services at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Pallbearers include; Julian Salazar, Abel Lueras, Ray Garza Sr., Jason York Jr., Adrian Marquez, and Robert Marquez.
Honorary Pallbearers include; Edward Ross Jr, and all of VFW Post # 3221 members.
The family request the Memorial Contributions be made to the DAV or VFW.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup is entrusted with arrangements.
