Flavio David Chávez, 84, passed into eternal rest in Heaven after a
long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born July 7, 1929, in
Turley, to Teresa Lobato and Silviano Chávez.
Flavio graduated from Blanco High School in 1947. He served as a Staff
Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas
Company for 20 years. He worked as a plumber, operating his own
plumbing business, Aztec Plumbing and Heating for more than 25 years.
Flavio was twice elected to serve on the Aztec City Council and was a
former Mayor of the city of Aztec.
Flavio loved to read and do crossword puzzles. He enjoyed gardening
and sharing his produce. He was devoted to his family.
Flavio was preceded in death by his daughter Olivia and his wife Delfinita.
Flavio is survived by his five children, Mario (Emily) Chávez, Anna
María Chávez, Rigo (Miriam) Chávez, Félix (Mayra) Chávez, Nicolás
Lincoln Chávez; brother, Dennis (Emma) Chávez, sister, Ruperta Sewell;
maternal aunt, Luisa Pérez; grandchildren, Dominic, Alisha, Jessica,
Miranda, Marcela, Cristian, Lilliana and Opialan; and
great-granddaughter, Neveah Chávez.
Pallbearers are Dominic Chávez, Ike Lobato, Wayne Sewell, Robert
Jaquez, Dale Anderson and Steve Chávez.

The family of Flavio extends a heartfelt thanks to all of Flavio's
care providers and hospice nurses.
A rosary for his heavenly repose will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday,
March 18, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 East 20th St. in
Farmington.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, at
Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington.
Interment service will be follow in Aztec Cemetery on Sabina Street in Aztec.

Flavio's name to: St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 500 N. Mesa Verde
