Evelyn Harriet Haag Harris Fox, 93, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Beehive Homes of Farmington. Evelyn was born September 19, 1921, in Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Maitland Leonard Haag and Clara Mueller Haag. Evelyn grew up during the depression when times were very difficult. Her parents moved around trying to find the right job to make a living. Her dad was a crop duster pilot and was killed when a prop struck him in an accident. She attended school until age 16. Times were hard and she had started working as a waitress. In 1940, at age 19, she met and married Orland T. "Butch" Harris. It was during this time that Evelyn came to know Christ. Butch and Evelyn were married for 51 years, when Butch went to be with the Lord. Evelyn stayed close to her church and God for the remaining time in her life. She always tithed, even when times were tough, and the Lord always provided for her. Everywhere Evelyn went, she accumulated many close friends. Evelyn served the community well, volunteering at the hospital, Hospice, working at the senior citizens center, and folding bulletins at the church. She was a blessing to all that knew her.
