FARMINGTON
EVA LOUISE (McCLURE) WEBB
MAY 20, 1925 - SEPTEMBER 11, 2015

Longtime Farmington resident Eva Louise (McClure) Webb, 90, of Farmington peacefully passed from this life Friday, September 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 20, 1925 in Amsterdam, Missouri, the daughter of Kenneth B. and Dorothea D. (Boone) McClure.

During her preschool years, she was raised by her maternal grandmother and her paternal grandfather in Lacygne, Kansas. Louise went to live with her mother and stepfather Andrew J. Lea (whom she lovingly called "Dad" throughout her life) in Pritchett, Colorado when she started school.

When Louise was 13, her family moved to Farmington when they purchased the Taylor Dry Goods. The first day of school, Louise's first friend was Maxine (Webb) Rhien and they remained best friends for 77 years. The first time Louise visited Maxine's home, she met Maxine's handsome brother, Marlo Webb. Louise talked her mother into buying milk at the drug store where Marlo worked as a soda jerk. This was the beginning of their 77 year love story. Louise and her family moved to Albuquerque where she graduated from Albuquerque High School. Marlo elected not to accept an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in order to join the first NROTC Program at the University of New Mexico so he could continue to date Louise.

Louise and Marlo were married February 26, 1944 in Albuquerque. The morning of their marriage, Marlo was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy to serve on a destroyer. They were married that afternoon. Eight days later Marlo left to serve in the South and Western Pacific. Louise stayed in Albuquerque and attended UNM. After World War II, Louise and Marlo returned to Farmington to work and raise three children and two foster daughters. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Louise was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many positions including Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women. She and Marlo served a mission managing the LDS Cannery and Bishops Storehouse and worked in the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple. Louise served with Marlo when he was called as Branch President of the Dulce New Mexico Branch on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation.

Louise owned and operated Fleur de Lis Dress and Bridal Shop in Farmington for many years. She was the Farmington Public Library's longest serving community volunteer serving in every organization supporting the library. Louise received the New Mexico Library Amigo Award from the State of New Mexico in 2011 for serving over 50 years in volunteer positions in the Farmington Public Library. She was San Juan County Chairman of the New Mexico Heart Association for many years.

Louise loved to travel, read, quilt, knit, cook and especially loved to spend time with her family. Even in her last days, she loved visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and dear friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Wendall D. Lea, stepfather Andrew J. Lea, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Marlo L. Webb, daughter Margo (Jim) Allee, son Perry M. Webb (Cindi), daughter Lisa (Randy) Rogers, 20 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday, September 18th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington.
