Eugene Peter, 58, of Pueblo Pintado, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born Nov. 3, 1956, Farmington, to Bruce Peter Sr. and Katherine S. Begay. He was born to the 'Ashiihi the Salt People Clan and born for Tabaaha the Water's Edge Clan.
Eugene was a cowboy that enjoyed being around livestock. He grew up in Pueblo Pintado, where he was a great help to his grandmother, Martha Sandoval. He attended school in North Logan, Utah under the L.D.S. Placement Program.
Boyd and Joan Humphries welcomed him as their own. He worked many years in the pipeline industry. One of the companies that he worked for was Foutz and Bursum Construction Company. His spare time was spent helping elderly people. Eugene sheared sheep and offered to do miscellaneous jobs for them. He will be greatly missed by his family and those that knew him.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Peter Sr. and Katherine S. Begay; maternal grandparents, Victor and Martha Sandoval; and paternal grandparents, George Peter and Nora Watson. He is survived by sons, Nathanial Peter and Ivan Peter; daughter, Eugenia Peter; brothers Bruce Peter and Benjamin Peter; sisters, Marthella Revere, Christine Peter, Victoria Peter, Audrey Rosado, Phyllis Bunny and Valentina Begay; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 473 Road 6100 in Kirtland, with Brother Mark Duncan. Burial will follow in Rose Garden Cemetery in Upper Fruitland.
Reception will be at the church after burial.
Pallbearers are Anthony Bunny, Thomas Becenti, Bradford Peter, Randall Becenti, Matthew Sandoval and Leander Peter.
