Eugene Robert Ames

Eugene Robert Ames, 83, of Kirtland, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014, in Farmington, after several months in a nursing home. He was born July 3, 1930, in Jerome, AZ, to Robert and Rachel Ames.
He Spent his Childhood with his family in several northern Arizona towns. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force in the 1940s, and then several years in the Arizona National Guard. He was also a police officer in Phoenix, AZ, in the 1950s. Eugene was happily married for 56 years to the love of his life, Nancy. He retired from Arizona Public Service in 1994. He was a resident of Kirtland for 34 Years. He enjoyed flying RC airplanes, he was a private pilot he could fix or build anything. He was the co-founder of the RC
Airplane club and a former member of the Farmington elks Lodge. Eugene was precede in death by his parents, three sisters aaand
one great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Nancy;son John (Juanita) Ames; daughters, Wende (Lara) Baker and Su (Bob)
Hodgman; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, at his daughter's home, 4501 B Rowe Avenue. Memorials may be made to the San Juan Animal League, P.O.142, Farmington, NM 87499.
