Ella Mae (Prater) Costlow

October 29, 1920 — April 30, 2015

Ella Mae "Gran" Prater Costlow a long-time resident of Farmington, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at her home.
Born in Joshua, Texas on October 29, 1920, Ella Mae spent her early years in the Fort Worth, Texas area. She married Charlie Brooks Costlow in 1945. They settled in Ft. Worth, where Ella Mae was a homemaker, kindergarten teacher, and a founder of Fort Worth Christian School. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Brooks and Ella retired to the home they built in Bayfield, Colorado in 1976. They moved to Farmington in 1994. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her husband in 2003. She is survived by her two children, Larry Costlow (Clark) of Wamego, Kansas and Cathy McDonald (Ron) of Farmington. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Hollie, Rory, Dan, and Michael, and 5 great grandchildren, Nadiya, Jarryn, Brooklyn, Michelle, and Luna. Also surviving "Mae-Mae", are her two sisters Bernice and Carolyn, sisters-in-law Opal and Betty, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gran you were our rock and the wind beneath our wings. We love you always.
To celebrate her life, the family will greet friends at the Brewer Lee and Larkin reception room, 103 E. Ute, on Friday, May 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A private interment will be held in the Bayfield cemetery at a future date. Mrs. Costlow's arrangements have been entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home
