Services for Edmond Thompson, 72, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup. Martin Eastridge will officiate. Burial will be in Lone Pine Cemetery in Mexican Springs.
Thompson died July 15, 2016, in Mexican Springs. He was born June 29, 1944, into the Water Flows Together People Clan born for the Weaver-Zia People Clan.
Thompson graduated from Gallup High School and attended Draughon's Business College and Technical Vocational Institute in Albuquerque. He was a self-employed painter. Thompson enjoyed fishing, beadwork, leather crafts, fetish work and doing puzzles. He was an artist and collected miniature cars, animals and figures. Thompson also enjoyed attending powwows, listening to powwow music, playing bingo and going to the flea market.
Survivors include his brothers Glenn Avery, of Houck Arizona, Paul Thompson, of Albuquerque, Irvin Thompson, of Tohatchi, and Elton Thompson, of Mexican Springs; sister Eunice Quandelacy, of Gallup; 37 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred T. and Debra Thompson and siblings Donald Avery, Robert J. Avery, Raymond J. Avery, Fred Thompson Jr., Dwayne Thompson, Michael Shane Thompson and Robert R. Thompson.
Pallbearers will be David Eastridge, Jonathan Avery, Albert Avery, Paul Thompson, Fredrick L. Thompson, Daniel Esquivel and McKeever Tom.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Mexican Springs Chapter.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, New Mexico is entrusted with arrangements.
