Edgar Mann passed away on July 23, 2016 at his home at the age of 88. Ed was born in Vernon, TX on December 9, 1927. He enrolled at the University of Texas at age 16. After one year of college he enlisted in the Army and served in Los Alamos, NM. As a member of the Manhattan project he guarded atomic bombs and radioactive material. A few years later he met the love of his life and married Kathryn Booher. They both went back to the university and he graduated from UT in 1951. The Army called him back to duty and deported him to Korea. While in Korea Kathryn had their first daughter Cathy. They both joined him in Okinawa where they had their second daughter Judy. In 1956 Ed moved his family to Farmington and started his first business, a cast iron welding shop. They had two more daughters, Traci and Becky, and enjoyed raising their family in our community. Ed successfully owned and operated several more businesses. The current business is Mann Pipe Company which will be carried on by his grandsons. Ed had an adventurous life. He mined for gold in Alaska and Honduras and silver in Mexico. He got his pilot's license and plane and took off any time he could with his family. He loved to travel! Other Hobbies were snow skiing, coin collecting, raising ostriches, attending dance recitals, cooking waffles on Sunday mornings with his family and hunting for "good pipe." Ed has been a community leader and business owner in Farmington for 60 years. One of his final wishes was to thank all the people, "Friends", who helped him in business throughout these years.
