Eddie "Joe" Gregory passed from this world on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. He was born March 4, 1936, in Beaver, Okla., he grew up in Grady, and raised his family in Farmington. Joe was Eva's husband, Rod, Russ, Rick and Rene's dad, Derald Polston and Joanne Deal's father-in-law, Marcus, Joe, Roland, Keely and Luke's granddad, Jeanene Jimerfield and Holly Armendariz's granddad-in-law, Cade, Owen, Wyatt, and Caesar's great-granddad; and a loving precious brother, uncle, and very good friend to many. We will miss him so much. Joe was the first agronomist at the NMSU Science Center and went on to become Superintendent. Much of his research was used by the NAPI project. At retirement, NMSU awarded him the Fabian Garcia Founders Award of Excellence in recognition of scientific leadership. His true passion was his family as expressed by his grandson, Joe Gregory. "This is my grandfather's senior picture. He is my hero and the hardest working, most honest man I've ever known. His death was a shock to my family but not to the man upstairs. We all know where he is, no more pain, no more fighting for his life, Rest in peace granddad, we love you so very much. Thank you for the great life lessons you've taught me along the way - feeling sad. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W. 20th St. in Farmington with Pastor Steve Bellew officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Gregory, Joe Gregory, Roland Gregory, Keely Polston, Luke Polston, Kadance Gregory, Owen Gregory, Wyatt Gregory, Cesar Gregory; all his grandsons, great-grandsons and Keely. His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes will be interred at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.
