Earl David Varnell, 79, of Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015, in Bloomfield. He was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Minica, Okla., to John B. Varnell, Sr. and Melcina Hafer Varnell.
Earl was a United States warrior, serving in the Air Force for four years from 1955 to 1959. He was a hard working man and retired from El Paso Natural Gas Co. He was a very lively, fun loving and sensitive man. He loved to laugh. He liked to fix things and work with his hands and came up with some of his own inventions. He could be found in front of the TV set whenever his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys were playing.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother Verl Varnell; brothers, Harold, J.B., Paul, and Raymond; sisters, Bonnie Varnell Crook and Bernie Varnell Foutz.
Earl leaves behind his loving wife, of 55 years, Neoma R. Russell Varnell; one son Darrell L. Varnell and wife Lori R. of Farmington; and one daughter, Dora R. Varnell Harris and husband Samuel R., Sr., of Truth or Consequences, NM.; grandchildren, Samuel R. (Kendi R,) Harris, Jr., Kristina J. Harris, Ryan W. Varnell, Alisha M. Harris (Paul G.) Flores and Jordan E. Varnell; great grandkids, Samuel P. Harris, Kharma Smith, Audreanna Flores, Jeffrey Smith, Korra Harris, and Kaleise Harris.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held Monday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m., at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St., with Al Chapman officiating.
