Dwain Curtis Hamblin was released from his life of pain and suffering on June 12, 2013. In recent years he had experienced several near fatal traumas causing dramatic decline in his health. He is so greatly missed by his family and his large number of friends. He has gone to be with his family that have passed and his beloved Savior. He was born August 30, 1961 in Farmington, NM, the third child of G. Elbert and Nila Hamblin. He is preceded in death by three grandparents; Glen and Selena Hamblin, his namesake Elmo Dwain Smith, one brother, Garth Spence Hamblin, one sister, Julie Marie Hamblin, a nephew; Timothy Hamblin, and a great nephew; Brett James. He is survived by his maternal grandmother Lela Smith, parents; G. Elbert and Nila Hamblin two children; Robert Spence "Bobby" and Emily Ruth, seven siblings; Mark Hamblin, Marcia (Dwight) James, Michael (Misty) Hamblin, Darnell (Andrea) Hamblin, Steven (Julianne) Hamblin, Allen (Melanie) Hamblin, and Laura (Daniel) Brown, as well as 24 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles as well as many friends. Dwain spent his early years caring for the animals on the family dairy farm. He continued with farm equipment operation which he loved. He began to develop his professional career in heavy equipment maintenance at Gene's Frame and Alignment. He continued with BHP and drove trucks for Carl Huish and Foutz and Bursum. Dwain was known to be able to fix everything. He loved to use his skills and experience to help those in need and would consistently go the extra mile. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the England London South Mission. He enjoyed music and rarely missed an opportunity to sing in any choir. He also had a great sense of humor, sometimes twisting words to make things funny. He loved his Heavenly Father, his fellow man and served them with all his heart. He served faithfully all through his life in many different church callings including teaching and presidencies. He followed the Saviors commandment to love the Lord and his neighbor. A gathering of friends and family will be Monday, June 17, 6:00-8:00 PM at Brewer Lee and Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute Street, Farmington. Services for Dwain will be Tuesday, June 18 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Apache Chapel, 400 W. Apache Street, Farmington, with Bishop K. Jared Lusk
conducing. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens.The pallbearers are his son, Bobby and brothers: Mark, Michael, Darnell, Steven, Allen and brothers-in-law, Dwight James, and Daniel Brown. For those desiring to contribute memorial gifts in Dwain's name, a fund has been established at Wells Fargo Bank for Dwain's children to ease financial burden.
