Dulcinea "Diddy" Vallejos passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on December 5, 2016. She was 91 years of age. Ms. Vallejos was born in Sena, New Mexico on August 4, 1925 to Antonio Gonzales and Senaida Griego Gonzales.
She was a retired Cook after spending 30 years with the Grants Cibola School District. She was a devoted member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, but her family will cherish the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
Ms. Vallejos is survived by her children: Dolores Garcia and her husband Clarence, Helen Smith, Lucille Matthews and her husband Nathan, Cheryl Torrez and her husband Leo, Bernie Vallejos Jr., Paul Vallejos and his wife Brenda. Her son-in-law: Jimmy Pena. 16 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild. Her Siblings: Bernie Gonzales, Carmen Gonzales, and Dedene Ballard. Also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Bernabel Vallejos that passed away in 1995. One daughter: Bernadette Pena. One son: David Vallejos. One Great-granddaughter: Brianna Matthews. Her Parents: Antonio and Senaida Gonzales. And numerous brothers and sisters.
On Wednesday December 7, 2016 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a Rosary was held at 10:30 am, then at 11:00 am a funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Robert Badger. Burial took place at Grants Memorial Park.
Pallbearers included: Rhonda Montano, Rashell Smith, Melissa Lopez, Tanya Torrez, Vanessa Torrez, Christopher Vallejos, Nathaniel Smith, and Antonio Vallejos.
Honorary Pallbearers include: All of her Grand-Children and Great-Grandchildren.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup was entrusted with arrangements.
