Dorothy Ann Hopper, 87, was born November 25, 1926 near Bertrand, Nebraska. She grew up on the family
farm in Nebraska, through the Depression with all its' hardships. After she graduated from High School, her and
her twin sister Doris moved to Denver, Colorado to be with their older sister Mabel. There she got a job in the
war plant, helping troops overseas.While on a blind date, she met the love of her life, Clarence L. Hopper, and
soon after they were married in Sacramento, California where he was stationed at the time. Shortly after their
marriage , hey moved to Wichita, Kansas to start their family. In the mid 1950's they decided to move to Denver,
Colorado where she stated her bookkeeper career with Sears and Roebuck Co. In mid 1960, Dorothy and Clarence
decided to take the plunge and go into business with his father and brother in Farmington, New Mexico.
There she backed Clarence in his business endeavor of being part owner of Woody's Safety Service, while
she herself was working as a secretary at a local insurance agency. After several years in the insurance business,
she took a job in the County Treasurer's Office, which she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement. Now she
finally had time for her cart parties and her poker buddies! In 1984, she lost her husband, but continued to go
on , trying to keep busy with all her hobbies she so enjoyed. In 2005, Dorothy decided that it was time to
move closer to her children, and returned to Denver, Colorado. she thoroughly enjoyed her later years,
especially being closer to the Bingo Halls! Dorothy passed away in the Yuma District Hospital in
Yuma, Colorado on April 14, 2014, while attempting to recuperate with her daughter from a previous illness.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Clarence L. Hopper, her parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ron Hopper, daughter Kathy(Larry) Smith, granddaughter Michelle Smith,
brother Ervin, twin sister Doris, and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday,
April 21, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington, New Mexico, Tuesday
April 22, 2014 at 11:00 am a Service will be held at the Aztec United Methodist 123 E. Chaco Ave,
Aztec, New Mexico with Pastor Jeff Symonds officiating. Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery
in Farmington. Dorothy's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel 404 W. Arrington, Farmington
New Mexico 1-505-
