Dorothy M. Fisk, 87, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 19, 2013 at San Juan Regional Medical Center from her uphill battle with colon cancer. Dorothy was born in Parsons, Kansas on February 8, 1926. Her father was an oilfield worker, eventually moving the family to California. She was part of the Rosie the riveter movement, working on the first jet in an air plane factory during WWII. Dorothy then met her husband of forty-nine years Jerry in San Diego. They were married on June 22, 1946. She had two sons and became a devoted home-maker. Being a military wife, the family moved to various parts of the country from Washington to Alaska and eventually resided by Camp Pendleton, California. They moved to Vista, CA where she was an active member of the Theta Alpha Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International. After retirement, they moved to West Point California; where she held several positions in the local VFW (Cooties). In 2003 she moved to Farmington, in to be closer to her family. She is survived by sons, George Fisk of Farmington, Dennis (Martha) Fisk of Aztec, NM, and brother Kenneth (Joyce) Oshel, of Medford OR. She had six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Rudy. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry D. Fisk, mother Lorraine Pedrin, father Charlie Oshel brothers Charlie and Eugene Oshel, and sister Mary Christian. Her hobbies included reading, ceramics, and word finds. She would spend hours playing cards with her friends and family often loosing track of time. She placed two years in a row at card playing in the Senior Olympics. Dorothy also has been collecting very special recipes for years for her grand-daughter Michelle. Dorothy will be remembered and dearly missed. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heart-felt forms from people too great in number to name individually. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Castrellon, the nurses and staff at the San Juan Oncology Associates, and the entire staff at San Juan Regional Medical Center. Dorothy's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington NM 505-325-8688 where she will be flown back to California. A graveside memorial service is pending at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery in Lodi, California where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Jerry.
