Doris Nell Adams Cleaver
There was a grand reunion in Heaven on July 5, 2016. Our mom, grandmother and friend was reunited with the love of her life, her family and friends that joined Jesus before her. Doris Nell Adams was born on July 29, 1928 in Midland, TX. She was born to Ava Belle Lowe Adams and Samuel Sanford Adams. She was the oldest of four children, and was preceded in death by her husband Arlo, her parents, her siblings Neal Adams and Judy (Alton) Bryant , and her nephew Jeff Adams. She grew up in West Texas where she loved to play softball and volleyball. She graduated at age 16 and was a proud Midland Bulldog. She loved music and loved her job at the "Record Shop". Doris acquired the nickname "Mike" in high school and carried that nickname throughout her life. Doris and Arlo Cleaver were married March 19, 1947. She was a scout leader for all three of her kids. After they were raised, Doris and Arlo enjoyed being "Camp Hosts" for several years in the Colorado Mountains. They also enjoyed traveling the United States in their travel trailer. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Aztec for 62 years. Doris is survived by one brother Don Adams and her sister-in-law Clair Adams, her children Donna (Joe) Golding, Gary (Katrina) Cleaver, and Vikki O'Neal (Dortha Heuser). She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Kristi, Alan, Adam, Russal, Alisa, Kasey, Scott and Gary Lee. Great Grandchildren are Kyle, Kade, Lucas, Jesse, Nathan, Tanner, Colton, Zac , and Kaylee. There are also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. We are respecting mom's request to have a graveside service on July 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Aztec Cemetery. Please join family and friends sharing a meal at First Baptist Church of Flora Vista at 23 County Road 3500 in Flora Vista immediately following the service. Honorary pallbearers are her eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in the name of Doris Cleaver to the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home, P.O Box 629, Portales N.M. 88130. Arrangements are under the direction of Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington N.M (505) 327-5142. Mom loved yellow. Please feel free to wear a yellow shirt and jeans. Dress comfortably.
