Dorcas A. Crane, 79, of Aztec, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 in Aztec. She was born October 24, 1936, in Texico to James R. and Margaret A. Smith.
She met the love of her life, Gordon, in 1953 at the Crane's Supermarket. Later that year, they were married and started their precious life together.
She was a lady of many hats; paralegal, secretary, friend, wife and mother. the one she wore with abundant joy was that of Granny. She loved unconditional, and no matter the situation, she saw the gold in us all. We love you a bushel and a peck.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Smith; her brothers, Jack Smith, J. R. Smith and Jerry Smith; and her sisters, Margaret McInturff and Maureen Klements.
Dorcas is survived by her husband Gordon N. Crane; her sons, Gordon N. Crane Jr " Gordy" (Diane) and Matthew W. Crane "Matt" (Jackie);
her daughter, Candice J. Stanfield "Candi" (Rob); and her brother, Joe Smith (Lorraine). She also is Survived by her grandchildren, Gordon N. Crane III "Trey" (Brian Turner), Krystle A. Smith (CJ), Robert O. Stanfield III "Robbie" (Monique), Joshua A. Crane, Shelby P. Haws (Derek), Matthew W. Crane Jr. "Dylan"; and her great-grandchildren, Jacelyn C. Smith, Clarence J. Smith Jr. "Crue," and Drake O. Smith.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at First Baptist of Aztec with Terry Eagle officiating. Dorcas' care is entrusted to Alternative Choice Burial and Cremation,804 N.
