Don LaVerne Miller, 87, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Farmington. He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Marshall, Okla., to Frank Elmer and Dora Iona Triplett Miller.Don graduated from Farmington High School in 1947, after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a fireman first class on the USS Boise, the ship that brought our troops home. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas Company after 34 years, from 1950 to 1984.Don was a resident at The Bridge in Farmington since 2007. Don's passion in life was being a mechanic. He loved to hunt and fish, and did so when time would allow. For the eight years that he lived in assisted living, he was known as the sewing machine repairman. Don was preceded in death by his wife Donnie Louise Dalton Miller; his parents; and his brother Emmett Miller. He is survived by his son Alan D. (Judy) Miller, brother Keith (Loveda) Miller; sister Maryann (Rich) Howe; grandchildren, Jamie (Phil) Goodwin, Travis Miller, Justin (Amorette) Miller, Alana (Chris) Rowland; and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Rebecca Goodwin, Justin, Madilyn, Landon and Grayson Miller, Adriana Miller and Amanda Montoya, Logan, Brody and Owen Rowland. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in the Hermosa Park Cemetery in Hermosa, Colo. Pallbearers are Travis Miller, Justin Miller, Phil Goodwin, Tanner Goodwin, Ed Ahlm and Rory Eavenson.
