Dewey Earl Shockley, 74, of Farmington passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington after a lengthy illness. Dewey was born November 10, 1938 in Waldron, Arkansas to Ray and Lillie (Sherrill) Shockley. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1957 and moved to Eunice, New Mexico in 1959 to work in the oilfield. In 1960 he married Jo Ann Ivy, his wife of 53 years. Dewey was last employed by Sunland Construction, where he ended 49 years in the oil and gas industry. He was a kind hearted and patient man, who never met a stranger. Mr. Shockley was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dewey leaves behind his wife Jo Ann; daughter Sherry Maledon and husband Ray of Kermit, Texas; daughter Tanya Galaviz of Farmington; son Robert Galaviz and partner Lynn Rybicki of Bloomfield, NM; daughter Becky Stevens and husband Clay of Artesia, NM; son Kelly Shockley and wife Joy of Bloomfield, NM; son Waylon Shockley and wife Lana of Longview, Texas; sister Joyce Maledon of Arkansas; six granddaughters Shay Wise, Sarah Perez and husband Emiliano, Christine and husband James Turner, Felicia Hall and husband Kelly, Star Lynn Staley and Veronica Shockley; step granddaughter Brittany Velasquez; four grandsons Cody Maledon and wife Mari, Russell Galaviz and Ileena, Daison Shockley and wife Sarah and Alex Pease, step grandchildren Jake and Stephen Velasquez and thirteen great-grandchildren; Ashley Escontrias, Cody Ray Maledon, Chayo, Christian Robert, Seth Ryan Maledon, Dylan Keith Wise and Keely Ann Russell, A J Galaviz and Kaden Galaviz, Faith and Hope Perez, James and brother on the way Turner, and Emma Hall and numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be Sunday, October 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St., in Farmington. Funeral services for Dewey are Monday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, with Reverend Kevin Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 East Main St. in Farmington. Pallbearers are Ray Maledon, Clay Stevens, Kelly Shockley, Waylon Shockley, Cody Maledon, Russell Galaviz, Robert Galaviz, and Richard Ivy. Honorary pallbearers are Kaden Galaviz, Cody Ray Maledon, James Turner, Emilio Perez, Bob Ivy, Chayo Maledon, and Daison Shockley. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Dewey's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
