Delores E. Wernet
March 5, 1928 - Aug. 25, 2017
Delores E. Wernet, 89, of Farmington, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017. She was born in Damar, Kan., to Mary E. Gunther and Herbert Gunther, of Ellis County, Kan. Delores was a very competent author of numerous articles and when she was able, she was active as an animal rescue foster parent. She loved her miniature Schnauzer, Sonny and kept him for as long as she could. In her family's tradition, Delores attended the First Methodist Church in Bloomfield when she first came to the area. More recently, she faithfully attended the Pinion Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church in Farmington. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark Wernet; and her ex-husband, Wayne L. Wernet. She is survived by a daughter, Denise Wernet, of Kansas. She will be missed by all those who knew her. We sincerely thank the staff of the BeeHive Homes of Farmington and San Juan Regional Hospital for their help and care of Delores. Cremation will take place and friends are invited to a memorial celebration for Delores at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 at Brewer, Lee, and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington with Wayne Gayton officiating from the Seventh Day-Adventist Church. Delores's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at serenityandcompany.com.
