Dee Giles Jr., born on Sept. 25, 1929 passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2019 with family by his side. Dee was born at home in Aztec, NM. When he was a child, his family moved to Beatty, Nevada. In his early 20’s, Dee made it back to Aztec and never left again. In 1946, he was drafted into the Army and served in WWII in Okinawa, Japan. Dee was a truck driver for Graves Butane for years until he received his certification to join and retire from the Boilermakers Union. Dee liked to be in charge and was usually the boss on the job. It was his way or the highway! When he retired, Dee kept himself very busy. He had a mechanical knowledge of every thing and was a master of all trades. If he couldn’t fix it, nobody could. He could build anything he put his mind to and did. He rebuilt 2 old Ford Trucks in his retirement years. He was such a perfectionist! He loved old classics and often entered one or both of his trucks in the local auto shows. He loved riding his Harley and taking long road trips well into his 80’s. He was a “member” of the local coffee club at the Aztec Restaurant for years. He and many of his buddies gathered there for coffee every morning. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need if he could. He was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Dee was preceded in death by his Parents, Adolphus(Dee) and Frances Alice Giles, Brother Watt Giles, Sisters Mamie Cope, Amy Lee Hoagland and Joy Strozzie.
He is survived by sisters Anna Mae Collins, Alice Bates and Brother Ted Giles(Sylvia), BrotherOutlaw Harry Strozzie, Children Dee Giles(Vivian), Connie Giles and Patrick Giles, Grandchildren Blane Giles, Bridgette Vallejos, Jessica Jewett, Dillon Giles, Joni Garcia, Stacey Canabiss, Great-Grandchildren Andreanna(AK), Jahlia, Antonio, Kevin Jr., Jaitlyn, Jackson, Jordyn, Ryan and Wyatt and many Nieces and Nephews.
Also, we would like to give a huge thank you to all the staff at Crane’s Roost for the love and care they showed him and the family during his stay there.
