D.C. Bassing, 86, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was born Feb. 1, 1927 to Sallie and Charley Bassing in Lamar County, Texas. After serving in the Air Force, D.C., he married Ann Robinson on Valentines Day 1951 and they remained sweethearts for 62 years.D.C. went to
work for El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1954 and worked 33 years for them. He played fast pitch softball for 20 years. He also loved camping, hunting and fishing. In his later years he played and sang gospel music with a small group for four different rest homes. He loved his family, his church and most of all his God. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three brothers and one sister.DC is survived by his wife, Ann; sister, Jewel McClure; brother, Charlie Bassing; daughter, Sharon Pierce (Stan); daughter, Judy Gomez (Tony); son, Chris Bassing (Melody) and son, Greg Bassing (Sharon). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Joseph (Tara), Christy (Chad), David (Jamie), Scott, Paul (Kristina), Jacob, Leah (Brad), Caleb (Kayla), Daniel, Taylor, Cindy, Chris and fourteen great-grandchildren.A funeral service will be 2
p.m. on Monday, April 1, at the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield, 200 W. Sycamore Ave. in Bloomfield, with Pastor Jennings Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in
