Damon Frank Tipton, 83 of Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was born on October 29, 1931 to Joe B. and Ola Tipton in Menard, TX. Damon lived in Menard most of his childhood and attended the local high school. He was enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War. For most of his adult life, Damon worked in the oil and gas industry as a Field Technician for Southern Union and PNM. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Damon was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Ola Tipton and brother Leo Tipton. He is survived by his wife Thyra Tipton; son Jeff Tipton; daughters Kathleen Tipton and Susan Tipton; brothers Joe B. Tipton, Jr, and John Tipton; sisters Mildred Schoolcraft and Pat Craig. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday Jan. 13th at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec, with full military honors provided by VFW Post #2182. Interment will be in Texas at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity or the Bloomfield Methodist Church Parsonage Fund.
