Dale Funkhouser

Dale Elsworth Funkhouser, 79, of Aztec, passed from this life Friday, May 30, 2014, in Aztec. He was born June 24, 1934, in Stratton Township, Ill., to Elmer L. and Mildred L. Funkhouser.
Dale joined the U.S. Navy in 1952, and he served during the Korean War, as an electrician. He married Shirlene St. John, Nov. 5, 1955, in Terre Haute, Ind., and retired from the telephone company after 38 years. Dale was a member of the Masonic Lodge #268, for 47 years, the NRA and the north American Fishing Club.
Dale was preceded in death by his son, Mark L.; his parents; brothers, Larry and Forrest; and sisters, Judy Fields and Bonnie Hastings.
He is survived by his wife Shirlene; daughters, Kim (John) Osep, Karen (Albert) Franch and Kathy (Stacey) Mousner; brothers, Jerry and Gary; sisters, Orleta Welker and Shirley Knight; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Buster.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, June 6, at Day 3 Church (the old Bible Baptist Shepherd), 1107 S. Miller Ave. in Farmington, with Pastor John McEver officiating.
