Cordilia "Cordy" Montoya Garcia Martin, 88, of Aztec, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Aztec. She was born July 4, 1925, in Gobernador, to Juan and Aleja Martinez Montoya.
Cordy was a homemaker and was a self-employed housekeeper. Her hobbies included BINGO, going to casinos, playing Canasta and poker, and she loved to dance.
Cordy enjoyed having her picture taken; if there was a camera she was in front of it.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Juan M. Garcia and John Martin; daughter, Merleen Garcia; her parents; brother, Paul Montoya; sisters, Molly McDonalds and Rafelita Garcia; and grandchildren, Lisa Garcia and Frankie Garcia.
Cordy is survived by her sons, Ray (Grace) Garcia, Lorence (Barbara) Garcia, Steven (Martha) Garcia and Leroy (Cathy) Garcia; son-in-law, Gilbert Garcia; brother, Raymond (Lou) Montoya; grandchildren, Chris (Maria) Garcia, Thelma (Terry) Mobley, Anthony (Veronica) Garcia, Jake Garcia, Donovan (Andrea) Garcia, Ivan Red, Jesse Martinez, Marcella (Jason) Miller, Mike (Lois) Garcia, Michelle (Jorge) Valencia, Amy (Michael) Montoya, Isaac Garcia, Cruzita Garcia, Jason Garcia, Tamera (Joseph) Szekely, Lorenzo (Ashley) Peña and Steven (Teresa) Vance; 36 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 500 N. Mesa Verde Ave. in Aztec.
A visitation will be 9 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, also at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the church, with Father Kingsley as celebrant.
Interment will follow service in the Aztec Cemetery.
Reception will be in St. Joseph's Parish Hall.
Pallbearers are Anthony Garcia, Donovan Garcia, Mike Garcia, Jason Garcia, Isaac Garcia and Chris Garcia.
Cordilia's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., 505-334-9332.
