Clay "Coy" Monroe Bennett

Clay "Coy" Monroe Bennett, 71, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016. He was surrounded by his family. Coy was a resident of Shiprock, but was born on Dec. 20, 1944, in Lawton, Okla., the son of the late Tommy Bennett and Mary Bennett of Cache, Okla. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Redhorse Bennett; daughters, Evonne Bennett-Barnes and Cheryl Bennett; grandsons, Tyler Bennett Barnes and Leon Redhorse Killsback; and brothers, Jerry Bennett, Jesse Bennett and Louis Bennett.
Coy was a member of the Comanche Nation and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963, serving four years in Vietnam. Coy was a trained auto mechanic and earned a degree from TVI in Albuquerque. He met his wife in California. Coy worked at APS, was known for his chili beans and love for his family. He also enjoyed working on cars in his spare time.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Brewer Lee and Larkin Funeral Home in Farmington,. Interment to follow at 12:30 p.m. in Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
Clay's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
