Clara May Mason, 82, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, in Farmington. She was born March 14, 1935, in Durango, Colo. to Emily and Herbert Billings.
Clara grew up on a farm in the Animas Valley, the eldest of five sisters and one brother. She graduated from Durango High School, where she met and married her husband, Roy Mason of 64 years. Clara was an individual who loved her family and was passionate about spending time with her loved ones and friends. Clara was an active and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church. Community service was a huge part of her life. Clara was a SJRMC volunteer for 45 years, one of her proudest moments was when she was honored with a state volunteer of the year award for the hospital auxiliary. She was also the past president of the Home Runners Club as well as a scout leader when her two daughters were younger. In her spare time, Clara spent time in her garden with her 25-prize winning rose bushes. Her garden was a reflection of her tremendous love and devotion to those around her. Clara will be greatly missed by all!
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Emily and Herbert Billings. She is survived by her husband, Roy Mason Sr.; son, Roy (Sherry) Mason; daughters, Marilee (Steve) Dexel and Charoltte Mason; brother, Herb (Sandy) Billings; sisters, Ruth (Ernie) Shock, Mary (Gerald) Framchini, Barb (Gary) Smith, Jan (Gary) Matlock and Julie Ellison; grandchildren, Levi Dexel, Megan Dexel, Taylor Dexel, Nathan Paschke, Sam Mason and Riley Mason; great-grandchildren, Molli Lui and Hugo Paschke.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Clara will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at First Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington with Rebecca Morgan officiating.
