Christopher Daniel Valdez Jr. 40, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Farmington. He was born March 3, 1973, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Chris Valdez Sr. and Elsie Carpenter. Chris had one sister, Kathy Hurd of Aztec. He was raised in Farmington, where he attended school. He enjoyed skateboarding with his dog "Big Baby Davis" and was often seen throughout the neighborhood with his dog. He was an avid animal lover. He was always ready and willing to help anyone who needed it. He was known and loved for his kindness and generosity and his love for family, friends and co-workers. Chris loved his job at D and J Drilling and was recognized for his hard/good work ethic. Chris was taken from us way too soon and will be greatly missed. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Zeb and Mary Valdez. He is survived by his wife, Misty Valdez; his parents, Elsie (Jim) Carpenter and Chris (Denise) Valdez Sr.; sisters, Kathy Hurd (Travis) and a special friend Donell Williams-Martinez. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, at the World Harvest Center, 1024 N. Butler Ave. in Farmington, with Pastor Christie Dewees officiating. A reception will follow the service at the VFW Post No. 2182, 5513 U.S. Highway 64 in Farmington. There will be a private interment at a later date.
