Christina S. Upshaw, 69, of Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2012, in Farmington. She was born Dec. 19, 2014, in Pueblo Alto, to Willie and Nettie Sandoval. Christina was born to Naakai Dine'e and Kiiyaa'aanii and she was born for Ta'neeszahnii and Tl'aashchi'l.
She attended Steward Indian School at Steward, Nev. She was employed with Dzilth na o dith hle for 27 years. Christina retired as a home living specialist. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, traveling, knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Christina is survived by her husband Jimmie Upshaw; sons, Leonard Sandoval, Jim Upshaw and Lonnie Upshaw; daughters, Flora Upshaw and Gloria Upshaw; her parents; brothers, Alfred Sandoval (deceased), Emerson T. Sandoval, Ernest L. Sandoval, Curtis l. Sandoval and Eddie L. Sandoval; sisters, Emma S. Ramone, Lucy Judy and Esther S. Willetto; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pueblo Alto. Burial will follow in the family cemetery. Reception will be at the Pueblo Pintado Chapter House.
Pallbearers are Steven Sandoval, Logan Sandoval, Wenston C. Willetto, Jim Upshaw, Jaymes Smith, Vaughn Sandoval, Ferguson Sandoval and Jon M. Black.
