Charles E. Clouthier, 80, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 18, 2013 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Charles was born on September 9, 1932, in Phoenix, AZ to George and Virginia (Pine) Clouthier. He came to Farmington in 1934, graduating from Farmington High School in 1950 and from UNM with a degree in Pharmacy in 1954. After a stint in the U.S. Air Force, Charles returned to Farmington in 1957 as a staff pharmacist at Farmington Drug. He purchased a 50 share in the drugstore in 1961 and over his 48 year career was proud to have assisted his many customers with their health needs; in some cases caring for 4 generations of area families. He believed deeply in good customer service and he regarded his partners, employees and customers as"family". Charles is survived by his wife, Gwen (Speer), whom he married in July, 1963, his sons Scott (Charlotte) and their children, Kobe and Kyla, of Boise, ID; and David (Mary) and their sons, Trevor and Corey, of Castle Pines, CO; his brother, Bob (Bobbie) of Littleton, CO; sister-in-law, Jan (Speer) Munyon (Larry) of Collierville, TN; 6 nephews and 1 niece. He is also survived by his "other family", Mildred Weir Speer of Farmington, David (Cassie) Weir of Tempe, AZ; Karen (Michael) Glennon of Albuquerque, NM; and Gordon (Diana) Weir of Parker, CO., and their families; and countless friends throughout the area.Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge AFandAM #15 and Elks Lodge #1747. He was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was Treasurer of the San Juan College Foundation for 32 years. He had a great passion for the SJC Foundation in that they provide scholarships for deserving students. He served for a number of years on the Scholarship Selection Committee, a job he took most seriously. In 2005, Charles was inducted into the San Juan College Hall of Honor. Charles was also Chairman of the San Juan Regional Medical Center Hall of Honor selection committee. For the past decade, he also served as a judge for the district Science Fair. Charles' memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin, on Wednesday, May 22, at 10 AM with Rev. Glenn Perica officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the San Juan College Foundation Scholarship Fund, 4601 College Blvd, Farmington NM, 87402.
