Celia “Sally” Rebecca Grijalva passed away in Gallup, New Mexico at her home surrounded by her loving family on November 15, 2019, she was 85 years of age. She was born in Zuni, New Mexico on April 26, 1934.
She was previously employed with Eagle Café, JC Penney, Levine’s Department Store, and Zimmerman’s. She was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she was active with the Charismatic Movement. She loved to cook and spend time with her loving family. She was a strong woman of faith, prayer warrior and had so much love for all people. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
Mrs. Celia is survived by her husband Albert Grijalva Jr. Her son; John L. Grijalva and his beloved Rachel Garcia. Her daughter; Phyllis Bond and her husband Richard Bond. 7 grandchildren; Amber Velez, Rafael Velez, Christopher Bond, Bernard Bond, Marisa Garcia, Anna Bond, and Jennie Grijalva. 4 great-grandchildren; Ozais Velez, Adrianna Rohrer, Augustina Salazar, and Marissa Banteah. Her nephews; Kenneth Chavez, and Terry Allen Chavez. Her nieces; Yvonne Chavez, and Karen Chavez. Her brothers-in law; Arnold Lueras, Danny Grijalva, and Anthony Grijalva along with numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Blas Padilla Chavez and Augustina Torres Chavez. Her siblings; Edward Chavez, Louis Chavez, Emma Chavez, Philemon Chavez, and Gloria Chavez.
On Tuesday November 19, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church a Rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm, immediately following, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Abel Olivas, OFM. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Family will receive friends and family at a reception to be announced after service.
Pallbearers include; Anthony Grijalva, Bobby Dean Howard, David Bond, Christopher Bond, Bernard Bond, and John Grijalva.
Honorary Pallbearers; Rafael Velez, Ozais Velez, Amber Velez, Adrianna Rohrer, Augustina Salazar, Marisa Garcia, Marissa Banteah, Anna Bond, Isabella Tafoya, Phyllis Bond and Richard Bond.
Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
