Carroll Ray Lewis, 63, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, in Farmington. He was born July 1, 1951, in Burnet, Texas, to Henry Earl Lewis and Dorothy Dix Wagenfuhr. Carroll was known to all who loved him as C.R.. He grew up in a small Texas town with his three brothers and one sister. They were orphaned at an early age and raised by their grandmother. C.R. joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a Fire Protection Specialist for the length of his service. He attended the University of Texas to pursue a degree in engineering. C.R. traveled the country working in the oilfield. He had a daughter Rene Limrick and a son Hank Lewis. In the summer of 1991, he saw and fell instantly for Jeanna Toward. He pursued her single mindedly not minding at all the two girls and one boy she had in tow. On June 19, 1993, they joined their families in marriage making a broken family whole. C.R. always said he had five children when asked, not just his two biological children. He loved his children's spouses as much as his children. C.R. adored and was adored by his grandchildren. He had a very generous heart and bright smiling eyes. He never met a stranger and most people were more family than friends. C.R. was loved and will be greatly missed.
C.R. was preceded in death by his parents; brother Henry Earl Lewis Jr.; sister Dixie Marcelle Stoller; niece Misty Lewis; and his grandparents, Marcelle and Fritz Wagenfuhr and Wesley and Mattie Pearl Lewis. He is survived by his wife Jeanna Lewis; sons, Hank (Melissa) Lewis and David (Brooke) King; daughters, Rene Limrick, Aubry (Sheldon) Jones and Alicia (Jamie) Ulibarri; brothers, Mark (Sandy) Lewis and Brant (Vickie) Lewis; sister Phyllis Wynn; and 10 grandchildren.
