Carroll Myers Evans, 87, of Farmington passed away peacefully in his home on June 2, 2013, and was reunited with the love of his life, his wife Norma. Carroll was born in Clovis, New Mexico on October 1, 1925. to Charles Hamilton Evans and Anna Grace Myers Evans. Carroll married his high school sweetheart Norma Taylor on June 15, 1947. To this union, was born four children: Byron, Dennis, Elaine and Ronald. Carroll went into the Air Force at the age of 18. He served as a Flight Engineer and Qualified Pilot on the B-24 Bomber. Later, in 1952, he became the Northwest Regional Commander at the rank of Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, involved in numerous search and rescue missions. Carroll owned his own airplane and had a great love of flying. He was in the furniture retail business for 27 years and in the real estate business for 20 years. Carroll also served 9 years as director of the San Juan County Board of Realtors.
Carroll was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many callings. Our Dad spread smiles with his sense of humor. His kind heart and gentle eyes never missed any person in need, whether it be a hungry person in the street, someone needing some money to get on their feet, or anyone in need, especially at Christmas when he noticed a parent who couldn't buy their children a present. That was who Carroll was, that's who Carroll is. Carroll was preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma and siblings Lenora, DeAun, Charles and LeeElla. He leaves behind his sons Byron (wife Debbie) of Farmington, NM; Dennis Evans of Aztec, NM; Ronald Evans and (eternal life love Jennie) of Denver, CO; and daughter Elaine Williams (husband Bobby) of Gilbert, AZ; siblings David Donald Evans of Scottsdale, AZ and Gary Evans of Port Orchard, WA; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many dear friends and associates. Graveside services with full military honors provided by VFW Post #2182 of Farmington, will be Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave in Farmington where Carroll will be placed next to his beloved Norma. Bishop Carroll Carter of the Famington 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will conduct the service. Pallbearers are Ronald Evans, Byron Evans, Brenton Evans, Cory Williams, Val Jolley and Mike Heal.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Carroll's memory to Childhaven Foundation, 807 W. Apache St., Farmington, NM 87499. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all relatives and friends who were so kind and supportive during this time. Your kindness will always be remembered.
