Carolyn Ann Bacon

February 22, 1944 — May 6, 2013

Carolyn Ann (Kennedy) Bacon, 69, a resident of Farmington passed away early Monday, May 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born February 22, 1944 in McLeansboro, Illinois the daughter of Mearl John Kennedy and Ione Helen McElhinney Kennedy.

Carolyn leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Dr. George K. Bacon of Farmington; sons Geoffrey Bacon and wife Kelly of Springfield, VA and Christopher Bacon and wife Jennifer also of Springfield, VA and daughter Carrie Thompson and husband John of Farmington; brother John Kennedy and wife Karen of Gillette, Wyoming; five grandchildren Andrew Bacon, Paige Thompson, Gina Bacon, Jack Thompson and Anna Bacon; dear friend and cousin Mary Jane Oakley of Indianapolis, Indiana and many dear friends.

Carolyn graduated from Farmington High School in 1962. She attended Arizona State University and the University of New Mexico. She returned to Farmington where she met Dr. George Bacon, after accidentally running over her dog. As animal lovers, George and Carolyn gave second chances to many abandoned animals. Carolyn was the business manager of Totah Animal Hospital. She raised three successful children and was "Mimi" to her five grandchildren.

She loved the outdoors, hiking, kayaking and cross country skiing. She left a legacy in quilts for friends and family and played a mean hand of bridge.

Cremation will take place and Rosary services for Carolyn will be recited on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington with Father Don Richardson reciting.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington with Father Timothy Farrell as celebrant.

Honorary pallbearers are her five grandchildren, Andrew Bacon, Paige Thompson, Gina Bacon, Jack Thompson, and Anna Bacon.

Special thanks to Dr. James and Jeffrey Neidhart, Dr. Linh Nguyen, Dr. Edward Libby and Dr. James Slack. All of the kind and compassionate oncology nurses at the San Juan Regional Medical Center Infusion Center as well as the nurses and staff at the University of New Mexico, SJRMC and Mayo Clinic.
