Funeral services for Bruce McCray, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Cope Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.
McCray died Dec. 7, 2014, in Gallup. He was born March 15, 1933, in Tsayatoh, into the Towering House People Clan born for the Blackwood Streak People Clan.
McCray worked for the railroad industry and lived most of his life in the rodeo world. He was a bullrider and stock contractor and traveled many places selling jewelry. McCray enjoyed watching western movies and visiting with family.
Survivors include his sons Curtis McCray of Window Rock, Arizona and Kirby McCray of Gallup; daughters Nora McCray, Carol McCray, both of Window Rock, Arizona, Gwendolyn McCray and Esmeralda McCray, both of Tseyatoh; brothers Frankie McCray and Jake McCray Jr., of Tseyatoh; sisters Fannie Reeder, Stella McCray, Ida McCray, Mary Tomas and Katherine "Bah" McCray, all of Tseyatoh; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Marion McCray and Jake McCray Sr.; sisters Elsie Begay, and Betty Jones; brothers Johnny McCray Sr.; Joe McCray and Ned McCray Sr.; and grandfather Frank Walker.
Pallbearers will be Brian McCray, Darrell Harvey, Tracy Yazzie, Curtis McCray, Sam McCray and Emery Morris.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, NM is entrusted with arrangements.
