Brenda Jean Hughes, 51, of Flora Vista, passed away on Sept. 6, 2015, in Flora Vista. She was born Feb. 3, 1964, in Farmington, to Archie and Donna Hughes.
Brenda graduated from Farmington High School and San Juan College. She worked at the Trough Restaurant, T.J.'s Downtown Diner, K-Bob's, Haven's Trucking and Farmington Auto Auction. The last 13 1/2 years was disabled from a car wreck. Her biggest joy was her art work and her family. Her pencil drawings of tigers, horses and birds portrayed her love of animals of all kinds.
Brenda was preceded in death by father-in-law, Louis Hyde; and grandparents, Robert N. Hoefer and Helen I. Wood Hoefer and Charles D. Hughes and Ivan Jean Hughes. She is survived by her son, Sean Paul M. Hyde and his wife, Sara; parents, Archie and Donna Hughes and Ray and Mary Goodwell; brother, Charles R. Hughes and wife, Sarah; sister, Pam Tookey; grandfather, Lane Wood; granddaughter, Scarlett Hyde; and special nieces, Krystan Hughes and Ashley May.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the VFW Post No. 614, 201 S. Park Ave. in Aztec, officiated by Valerie Manzanares.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in the family plot in Burlington, Okla.
A reception will follow service at the VFW.
